oh calamity

In the beginning

From the first utterance in a cave... to the hallowed halls of higher education... humans have sought to find the right words. Big words. Small words. Words that live between. Rich words. Frugal words. Even the word... 'sardine'. Words that get us out of bed and dance like sugar-plums in our head.

Today we find words in all kinds of places. In movies and books and those written on little lady's laces. We write them down so they can be found and create them near the Puget Sound. We add some art, perhaps a big red heart or maybe a lobster tart, and serve it up to you a la carte.

Before we could write we shared stories. Stories we told around the fire. Stories that warned us of our fate. Stories that would inspire. And made us stay up late. Stories that we gathered so we could tell again. Stories that would matter. And like a garden we could tend.
